Résumé

Introduction: Meningitis-malaria co-infection is a medical emergency.
Objective: the aim of this report is to remind clinicians of the seriousness of this co-infection
Observations: Through three clinical cases, the authors draw the attention of clinicians to cases of
severe bacterial meningitis and malaria co-infection. They underline the interest of the concomitant
research of these two pathologies in front of a febrile meningoencephalitis picture with an alteration of
the consciousness. Cerebrospinal fluid analysis and thick blood drop are essential to confirm the
diagnosis. Despite management with antibiotics and antimalarials, one death was recorded.
Conclusion: Bacterial meningitis with severe malaria co-infection is not rare in our context. It
constitutes an emergency of diagnosis
